Heel Lift Treatment for Achilles Tendinitis,

Achilles Tendinitis is a painful condition of the back of the lower leg. Usually, the person is an athlete or avid runner who suffers from Achilles Tendinitis.  The pain is generally activity induced, and most commonly strenuous activity induced.  It can also cause pain walking up or down hills.  There are many different treatments for Achilles Tendinitis. Many podiatrists consider a heel lift to be the first and best treatment for Achilles tendonitis.

One of the obvious and best treatments is to place a heel lift for your shoes or sneakers.  This will help take some strain off the Achilles tendon by reducing the stress.  Heel lifts are an inexpensive first try treatment. When there is a heel lift in the shoe, it will decrease the pull of the tendon. Without the painful pull, a heel lift will allow the Achilles tendon to heal faster.

One of the biggest treatment mistake you can have during Achilles tendon treatment is to have a cortisone injection into the Achilles to reduce the pain and swelling.  A cortisone shot can lead to a rupture of the Achilles and aggravate the problem.

At Atlas Biomechanics, we manufacturer numerous types of heel lifts. The most common question medical practitioners ask us is what height of heel lift if the best to treat Achilles tendinitis? Per our survey of  100s of our medical practitioner customers, a 6 mm (1/4") heel lift is the most common heel lift height used.

Atlas Biomechanics offers a range of sizes and styles to suit your heel lift  needs. We manufacturer adjustable heel lifts , cork / rubber heel lifts , and eva / rubber heel lifts.
